I read the unlocking policies of both T-Mobile and MetroPCS and it seems both will refuse to unlock it, T-Mobile because it needs to be activated on their network for at least 40 days, MetroPCS because the phone is not one of theirs. The MetroPCS MSL calculator will let you put in your phone's unique ESN (electronic serial number) and gives you back your MSL (Master Subsidy Lock). A subsidy is a cell provider, like MetroPCS.

Metropcs 5g Phones Upgrade, I went to my local MetroPCS store to open a $30/month account yesterday (7/18). I was told that I had to open a $60/month "unlimited" account first, which I could then convert to a $30/month account after 30 days. I told the clerk that there was NOTHING on the MetroPCS web site... I hope I explain this clearly.... * My husband and son each have phones with Metro PCS, same family plan different numbers. One night checking son's phone out of boredom and that I needed his friends numbers - I noticed names & numbers of my husband's friends on son's phone.
All done during... I switched to MetroPCS a few months ago from Sprint based services that offered around 2.5gb to 10gb. I also considered Cricket during their 20gb special offer. I am SO glad that I chose a T-Mobile based option (MetroPCS) with unlimited data.
